Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 16 oz Strawberries, fresh or frozen These juicy gems are the star of the show! Fresh strawberries provide vibrant color and sweet flavor.
  • ¼ cup water Helps the strawberries break down into sauce.
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar Balances the tartness of strawberries; adjust to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch Gives the sauce a smooth, luscious texture.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice Enhances the flavor by adding acidity.

Method

Preparation
  1. If using fresh strawberries, rinse them thoroughly and remove the hulls. For larger strawberries, halve or quarter them for better size.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine your prepped strawberries, water, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Stir gently to combine.
Cooking
  1. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently.
  2. Once boiling, continue to stir and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the strawberries break down and the sauce thickens.
  3. Let the sauce cool slightly for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Elevate the sauce with a splash of vanilla extract or a sprinkle of cinnamon. Adjust the sugar content to your taste, and for a chunkier texture, reserve some strawberry pieces to fold in after thickening.
