Method
Mixing
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, packed brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Blend until creamy and well combined.
Combining the Dough
- Gradually stir in the unbleached all-purpose flour and semi-sweet chocolate chips using a wooden spoon until evenly mixed, creating a thick, slightly sticky dough.
First Layer
- Spread half of the cookie dough evenly into the bottom of a greased 9x13” baking dish.
Layering the Cups
- Remove the wraps from the Reese’s cups and place them in the dish, arranging in a grid pattern until all 24 cups are positioned.
Topping Layer
- Spread the remaining cookie dough evenly over the top of the peanut butter cups and press down gently.
Baking
- Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for about 35-40 minutes until set and golden brown.
Cooling
- Allow the bars to cool in the dish before cutting into squares.
Notes
Avoid overmixing the dough after adding flour for better texture. For a richer experience, top with melted chocolate after cooling or add a sprinkle of sea salt before baking.
