Cooking Fat
  • 1 tbsp Butter (Unsalted) Adds a rich, creamy texture to the dish.
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil (Or any oil you like) Base oil for sautéing.
Main Ingredients
  • 8 cloves Garlic (Finely minced) Infuses the dish with aroma and taste.
  • 4 cups Rice (Long-grained rice like Jasmine or Basmati, already cooked; day-old is best) Offers a light, fluffy texture.
  • Salt to taste Salt Enhances the overall flavors.
  • Pepper to taste Pepper Adds warmth and spice.
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce (Optional) For an umami kick.
  • 2-3 tbsp Green onions (Finely chopped) Brings freshness and visual appeal.

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by placing a large non-stick pot or pan over low heat. Add the unsalted butter and olive oil, allowing them to melt together.
  2. Toss in the minced garlic, stirring gently as it cooks until golden and crisp, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Once golden brown, carefully remove half of the garlic from the pan and set aside for garnishing.
Cooking
  1. Introduce the cold, day-old rice to the pan. Sprinkle in salt, pepper, and soy sauce if using. Stir well until the rice is heated through.
  2. Turn off the heat and sprinkle the remaining crispy garlic over the rice. Garnish with finely chopped green onions.

Notes

Using day-old rice is key for the right texture. You can mix in cooked vegetables or proteins for a heartier meal. Adjust seasonings to taste if increasing garlic.
