Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups unsweetened shredded coconut The foundation of this recipe, brings a tropical aroma.
  • 4 tbsp maple syrup Natural sweetener, adds warm caramel flavor.
  • 5 tbsp coconut oil Binds the mixture and infuses coconut flavor.
  • 1 tsp vanilla Elevates the flavor profile.
  • 200 grams dark chocolate (70% cocoa) Provides a rich, velvety coating.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the maple syrup, coconut oil, and vanilla. Mix with a spatula or use your hands to ensure that every piece of coconut is perfectly coated.
  2. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with wax paper or foil. Take a small amount of the mixture (about the size of a ping-pong ball) and mold it firmly into shape. Aim for about 18 balls.
  3. Place the formed coconut balls in the freezer for about 10 minutes or until they are firm.
  4. For the chocolate coating, use a double-broiling method by filling a pot with 1-2 inches of water and bringing it to a gentle boil. Place a metal bowl on top of the pot and add the chopped dark chocolate.
  5. Once the chocolate is melted smoothly, use a large soup spoon to dip each coconut ball into the chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  6. Allow excess chocolate to drip off before placing the ball back onto the lined baking sheet.
  7. Return the tray to the freezer for 10 minutes so the chocolate can harden.
  8. Take them out and enjoy each bite of these delicious treats!

Notes

For added texture, roll the coconut balls in crushed nuts, seeds, or additional shredded coconut before freezing. Opt for semi-sweet chocolate for a sweeter flavor, and consider adding a pinch of sea salt to enhance the taste.
