Sautéing the Vegetables
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the canola oil and butter. Once melted, add the sliced onions and cook for about three minutes.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and continue to sauté for an additional four minutes.
- Stir in the Dijon mustard, water, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, and cook for another four to five minutes.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
Preparing the Beef Patties
- Preheat your grill to medium high, targeting a temperature of 375-400°F.
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef with the seasoning salt, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined.
- Divide into four equal pieces and shape each into patties slightly larger than your burger buns.
Grilling the Patties
- Grill the patties for about four to six minutes per side, until the center reaches 150°F for medium-well burgers.
- In the last two to three minutes of grilling, add Swiss cheese on top of each patty to melt.
Assembling the Burger
- Remove the patties from the grill and assemble the burgers with a bun, patty, melted Swiss cheese, and sautéed mushrooms.
- Optional: Add condiments like ketchup, mustard, or mayonnaise.
Notes
For extra flavor, add fresh herbs to the beef mixture or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sautéed mushrooms. Toasting the buns for a minute can add a delightful crunch!
