Method

Sautéing the Vegetables
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the canola oil and butter. Once melted, add the sliced onions and cook for about three minutes.
  2. Add the sliced mushrooms and continue to sauté for an additional four minutes.
  3. Stir in the Dijon mustard, water, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, and cook for another four to five minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and set aside.
Preparing the Beef Patties
  1. Preheat your grill to medium high, targeting a temperature of 375-400°F.
  2. In a bowl, combine the ground beef with the seasoning salt, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined.
  3. Divide into four equal pieces and shape each into patties slightly larger than your burger buns.
Grilling the Patties
  1. Grill the patties for about four to six minutes per side, until the center reaches 150°F for medium-well burgers.
  2. In the last two to three minutes of grilling, add Swiss cheese on top of each patty to melt.
Assembling the Burger
  1. Remove the patties from the grill and assemble the burgers with a bun, patty, melted Swiss cheese, and sautéed mushrooms.
  2. Optional: Add condiments like ketchup, mustard, or mayonnaise.

Notes

For extra flavor, add fresh herbs to the beef mixture or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sautéed mushrooms. Toasting the buns for a minute can add a delightful crunch!
