Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) or 160°C if using a fan-forced oven. Line two large trays with foil and then with baking paper.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the maple syrup and salt, stirring gently until the mixture simmers. Let it simmer for about 20 seconds before removing it from heat.
- Brush the maple butter generously on both sides of each baguette slice and lay them flat on one of the lined trays.
- On the second tray, arrange the slices of prosciutto. They can overlap slightly.
Baking
- Place both trays in the oven. After 15 minutes, check the prosciutto; it should be wrinkled and dark red. Remove it and drain on paper towels.
- Turn the baguette slices to ensure even browning and return them to the oven for an additional 5 minutes.
Assembly
- Allow the baked baguette slices to cool for about 10 minutes.
- On each crostini, place a slice of brie, add a shard of prosciutto, sprinkle chopped pecans, drizzle with maple syrup, and finish with thyme leaves.
Serving
- Transfer the assembled Maple Crisp Brie Bites to a serving platter and enjoy warm or at room temperature.
Notes
For a more intense flavor, toast the pecans lightly. Substitute cured meats or add fig jam. For vegetarian options, omit prosciutto and add more nuts or olives.
