  • 1 teaspoon dried basil Aromatic and herbaceous.
  • ¾ teaspoon salt Enhances natural flavors.
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper Adds depth and warmth.
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder For a subtle onion flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic Infuses aroma.
  • 2 tablespoons olive or avocado oil For sautéing.
For the Vegetables
  • 2 cups carrots Peeled and diced.
  • 2 cups sweet potatoes Diced.
  • 1 teaspoon salt For seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder Adds warmth.
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger Adds zing.
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder Extra depth in flavor.
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper Optional for heat.
  • 1 cup beef stock or broth For moisture.
  • 1 pound brussels sprouts Diced.

Method

Cooking the Meat
  1. Begin by adding your ground beef (or turkey) to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Crumble the meat as it cooks, stirring occasionally until fully browned.
  2. Once browned, stir in the salt, pepper, chili powder, onion powder, basil, and minced garlic. Sauté for an additional minute, then remove the cooked meat mixture from the pan and set aside.
Preparing the Vegetables
  1. In the same skillet, add olive or avocado oil and let it heat up. Toss in the diced sweet potatoes and carrots, seasoning them with salt, chili powder, ground ginger, onion powder, and crushed red pepper flakes.
  2. Keep the heat at medium-high and sauté the veggies for about 5 to 10 minutes, stirring often, until they achieve a delightful browning.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Lower the heat to medium and add the cooked ground beef back into the skillet along with beef stock and diced brussels sprouts. Stir to combine.
  2. Cover the skillet and let it simmer for about 5 to 8 minutes, or until brussels sprouts are tender to your liking.

Notes

Consider substituting proteins and experimenting with different vegetables for added variety. Fresh herbs can be added just before serving.
