Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 6 pieces bone-in chicken thighs Rich and juicy, providing a succulent bite.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder Adds depth and warmth.
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder Infuses chicken with a subtle sweetness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika Lends a hint of smokiness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt Essential for flavor enhancement.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper Balances the sweetness of the BBQ sauce.
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce The key ingredient for a sweet, tangy glaze.

Method

Preparation
  1. Place the chicken thighs in a large bowl and sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, kosher salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat and marinate in the fridge for 2 hours, or use them immediately.
Grilling
  1. Preheat the grill to medium heat and oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  2. Place the marinated chicken thighs on the grill, skin side down. Grill for about 7 minutes, being cautious of flare-ups.
  3. Flip the chicken over and grill for another 3 minutes, brushing with BBQ sauce on the side facing up.
  4. Cook for an additional 3 minutes.
  5. Flip again, apply more BBQ sauce, and cook for another 2 minutes.
  6. Flip one last time, brush with BBQ sauce, ensuring the skin side is facing up.
  7. Grill until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F, usually about 20 minutes total.

Notes

Rest the chicken for a few minutes after grilling to allow juices to redistribute before serving. Experiment with different BBQ sauces for varied flavors.
