Preparation
- Begin by cutting each chicken breast horizontally into two cutlets to ensure they cook evenly.
- In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, mixed herb, salt, and pepper. Generously season both sides of the chicken cutlets with this blend.
Cooking
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil and one tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken cutlets and sear on each side for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the pan and cover to keep warm.
- In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of butter and allow it to melt. Sauté the minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the flour and continue to sauté for another 30 seconds, allowing the mixture to turn lightly golden.
- Gradually pour in the chicken stock while whisking continuously to avoid lumps, creating a smooth sauce.
- Lower the heat and add the sour cream and ranch seasoning. Whisk everything together until well combined.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, coating each piece with the creamy sauce.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in the seasoning mix for at least 30 minutes before cooking. Use fresh ingredients when possible, particularly for garlic and herbs, as they greatly enhance the flavor. Watch the cooking time closely to avoid overcooking the chicken; it should be juicy and tender.
