Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb Lean Ground Beef Juicy and savory, the meaty foundation of the dish.
  • 1 medium-sized Onion (diced) Adds depth and richness.
  • 1 tsp Kosher Salt Essential for seasoning.
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder Provides subtle warmth.
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder Offers savory pungency.
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced) Infuses the dish with robust flavor.
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste Adds sweetness and acidity.
  • 1 tsp Yellow Mustard Brightens the flavor profile.
  • 1 tsp Hot Sauce Adds a gentle kick.
  • 2 cups Macaroni Noodles (Uncooked) Absorb all the rich flavors.
  • 4 cups Beef Broth Keeps the macaroni moist and flavorful.
  • 2 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese Adds a delicious melty texture.
  • 3 slices American Cheese Creates a wonderfully gooey sauce.

Method

Preparation
  1. Brown the Beef and Onions: In a large skillet, add the ground beef on one side and the diced onions on the other side. Sprinkle with kosher salt and brown for about one minute.
  2. Toast the Spices: Once the beef starts to color, add the chili powder and garlic powder. Stir for about one minute, straining excess fat but retaining some for flavor.
  3. Add Fresh Garlic: Incorporate minced garlic into the skillet and cook for an additional two minutes until fragrant.
  4. Mix in Tomato Paste and Condiments: Stir in tomato paste, yellow mustard, and hot sauce, cooking for one additional minute to combine flavors.
  5. Combine Pasta and Broth: Add uncooked macaroni and beef broth to the skillet. Stir well and bring to a gentle boil.
  6. Simmer: Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 13-15 minutes until pasta is al dente.
  7. Stir in the Cheese: Gradually add sharp cheddar and American cheese, stirring until melted and creamy.
  8. Season and Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed before serving hot.

Notes

For variations, try different types of cheese or add vegetables like broccoli or peas for better nutrition. Cheese can be substituted with dairy-free alternatives if necessary.
