Ingredients

For the Blueberry Syrup
  • 1.5 cups blueberries Juicy and plump, these give the mocktail its color and sweetness.
  • 3 tbsp honey Adjust according to taste preference.
  • 3-4 pieces fresh mint leaves Aromatic and refreshing.
  • 1/4 cup still water Helps extract the flavors from blueberries and mint.
For Serving
  • sparkling water To serve and add a bubbly twist.
  • ice cubes Keeps the drink refreshingly cold.
  • frozen berries Optional for garnish.

Method

Preparation of Syurp
  1. In a medium-sized pan, combine the blueberries, fresh mint leaves, honey, and still water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a very light simmer. Stir gently to combine the ingredients, allowing the blueberries to burst and release their juices.
  3. Cook the mixture for about 15 minutes. If some stubborn blueberries resist bursting, use a wooden spoon to press them against the sides of the pan to release their flavor.
  4. After 15 minutes, remove the pan from the heat. Pour the blueberry syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl or jug, pressing the syrup through the sieve to leave behind the blueberry skins and mint leaves. Set the syrup aside to cool for approximately 20 minutes.
Serving
  1. Once cooled, take your serving glasses and pour approximately half an inch of the blueberry syrup into each glass.
  2. Add ice cubes to the glasses, then top them off with sparkling water, giving a slight stir to mix.
  3. Garnish with frozen berries and fresh mint leaves for a beautiful presentation. Enjoy your refreshing Blueberry Mocktail!

Notes

Use fresh, high-quality blueberries for the best flavor. Adjust sweetness by varying honey as per taste. Muddle mint leaves for a stronger flavor if desired.
