Ingredients

Sloppy Joe Filling
  • 1 lb Homemade Sloppy Joe (for an authentic flavor, find the recipe here)
Crescent Roll Dough
  • 2 8 oz cans crescent roll dough (the flaky texture will melt in your mouth)
Cheese
  • 6 slices Medium Cheddar Cheese (creamy and rich)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (for an extra punch of flavor)
  • 2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese (for a deliciously cheesy top layer)
Finishing Touches
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (gives a golden, crispy finish)
  • to taste Thinly sliced scallions (for garnish, optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare the Old Fashioned Sloppy Joes recipe and set aside.
  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray a 9”x13” baking dish with cooking spray or grease it with butter.
Assembly
  1. Open one pack of crescent roll dough and lay it in rectangular shape in the baking dish.
  2. Press the dough out with your fingers, ensuring it fits snugly in the pan with sealed edges.
  3. Layer the slices of medium cheddar cheese over the dough, leaving about a 1/2” gap around the edges.
  4. Spread the prepared Sloppy Joe mixture over the cheese layer evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded sharp cheddar over the Sloppy Joe mixture.
  6. Open the second pack of crescent rolls, lay it flat, and cut into thin strips to create a lattice pattern over the casserole.
  7. Use leftover dough strips to create a border around the outer edge and seal it.
  8. Brush melted butter over the top and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the dish is bubbling.
  2. Garnish with thinly sliced scallions and cut into squares to serve.

Notes

To enhance the flavor, use fresh ground meat and consider adding sautéed vegetables like bell peppers or onions. Customize cheese types for variation.
