Ingredients

Pie Crust
  • 1 piece unbaked pie crust Can use store-bought or homemade.
Filling
  • 2.5 cups pecans (whole, chopped, or a combination of both) Toast for extra flavor if desired.
  • 3 large eggs (beaten) Ensure they are well-beaten.
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup Can substitute with maple syrup or honey.
  • 1/4 cup salted butter (melted) Melted to combine with the filling.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For added flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon table salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon Enhances the pie's flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Roll out the unbaked pie crust on a floured surface and line a 9-inch pie dish with it. Trim any excess crust.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the beaten eggs, dark brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, vanilla extract, table salt, and ground cinnamon until smooth.
Assembly
  1. Pour the pecans into the prepared crust, scattering chopped pecans evenly and arranging whole pecans on top.
  2. Carefully pour the egg mixture over the pecans.
Baking
  1. Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 60-70 minutes, until mostly set with a slight wobble in the center.
  2. Allow the pie to cool for at least 3 hours before slicing.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, toast the pecans before adding them to the pie. Cover the edges of the crust with aluminum foil if over-browning occurs. Experiment with spices and variations like adding chocolate chips or different nuts.
