Ingredients
Method
Prepare the Pancake Batter
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Stir until well incorporated.
- Add in the eggs, buttermilk, and melted butter. Whisk until combined; lumps are okay.
Cook the Pancakes
- Preheat a skillet over medium-low heat. Sprinkle a few drops of water to test readiness.
- Lightly coat the skillet with butter. Using a 1/2 cup measuring cup, pour batter onto the skillet.
- When bubbles form, flip pancakes carefully. Cook until golden brown.
- Serve warm topped with sliced bananas, walnuts, and Faye's syrup.
Prepare Faye's Syrup
- In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add sugar, buttermilk, light Karo syrup, and baking soda.
- Stir and bring to a boil, stirring often.
- Let it bubble for 5 to 7 minutes until light golden, then stir in vanilla.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter. Do not overmix, and adjust thickness with buttermilk as desired. Warm the syrup before serving for enhanced flavor.
